The Track Model of Test Site

Civic team went to city hall to apply the permit for test site. In order to show the officers what's the track in test site looks like, I created a model in Sketchup. It should be easy to do it. But I did't know what happened the the CAD document in sketchup was not available. I had to draw the CAD by myself. And Auto-cad crashed at least 8 times. I stayed up until 3 am to finish the model of test site.
Finally, I made it!

Jun.22th -Jun. 29th Park and Ride Lot Research

Do you park your car in South Campus and take a shuttle to main campus? At least 650 students in SJSU do it.
I did a Park and Ride Lot research in last two weeks.
The shuttle schedule is from Monday to Thursday, every 15mins from 6AM-11PM.
There are 4 buses on daytime, 2 buses on evening.
2 routes are available for riders:

Route 1: Park and Ride Lot – Duncan hall
Distance: 1.13 miles
Driving time: 5mins
Walking time: 22mins

Route 2: Park and Ride Lot- Duncan Hall – library – Engineering building – business tower – park and ride lot
Driving: 3.68 miles
Driving time: 17mins

Driving distance: 2.21 miles
Driving time: 10mins

Walking distance: 3.47 miles
Walking time: 1h7mins

Walking distance: 2.01 miles
Walking time: 39mins

Based on the information from parking service and transportation solution, I calculated the costs and benefits of the park and ride lot. Replacing a new/used bus, buses repair fee, gas fee, 7 drivers' salary, land lease, repair and maintain fee of the parking lot are included in the costs.

The utilization ratio of the park and ride lot is 77.4%, even though the university sell 95% parking spots. From the SJSU/VTA Collaborative Research (2010), the average parking utilization ratio is 74%. Tamien Station, the one close to south campus, the parking utilization ratio in this area is 71%.
